Create Section Type: Product

Updated over 4 months ago

What is a Product Section?

The Product Section type allows you to build a reusable section from one or more specific products. Unlike the Collection section, which pulls entire collections, the Product section lets you select individual products directly.

  • You can include active, draft, or archived products.

  • Selected products appear once in the section.

Steps to Create a Section Type: Product

  1. Open Sections

    • From the app navigation, go to Sections.

    • Click Create Section.
๐Ÿ‘‰ Result: The Create Section modal opens.

  2. Choose Section Type

    • In the modal, select Section Type: Product (works with individual products).

    • Optionally, add:

      • Section Title

      • Internal Key (for reference)

    • Click Create Section Type: Product.
๐Ÿ‘‰ Result: The modal updates, allowing you to select products.

  3. Search and Select Products

    • Use the search bar to find products quickly.

    • Filter products by tag or collection to narrow results.

    • Select one or more products (e.g., up to 10 at a time).

    • Click Add.
๐Ÿ‘‰ Result: The chosen products are displayed in the section preview.

  4. Finalize Section

    • Click Create Section.
      ๐Ÿ‘‰ Result:

    • A green success bar confirms creation.

    • Youโ€™re redirected to the Edit Section screen, where selected products are available for further editing and management.

    • If processing takes time, a yellow status message appears. During this, editing and product/variant management are temporarily disabled until the section is ready.

Key Notes

  • Product sections give you control over exactly which products appear, regardless of their collection assignments.

  • Search by tag or collection helps you quickly locate and group the right products.

  • Sections are reusable across multiple custom catalogs, making them ideal for curated selections, seasonal products, or promotional groupings.
